The XIV Central and South Asia Commodity Fair kicked off in Kashgar (Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, PRC).
Kashgar Fair aims to establish an export-oriented economic strategic platform facing Central and South Asia, continuously broaden and deepen economic and trade ties, comprehensively enhance the opening up of Kashgar and even the whole of Xinjiang.
Kashgar Fair attracts government delegations, well-known enterprises, industry associations and economic and trade organizations from China, Central and South Asia and even the whole world.
Exhibitors cover many fields such as trade and logistics, new materials, electronic information, textiles and garments, energy saving and environmental protection, biomedicine, agricultural and by-products processing, cultural tourism, etc., showcasing relevant branded goods and competitive resources.

The opening ceremony was attended by the chairmen of the XUAR People's Government, a delegation from Kyrgyzstan led by Altynbek Ergeshov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in Naryn Province, representatives from Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, as well as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Secretariat.
In his welcoming speech, Xing To, head of the XUAR trade and commerce department of the PRC, noted that China is currently establishing transport links with neighboring countries.
“To date, we have already signed a cooperation agreement with eight countries. However, Xinjiang will be the first republic to connect trade ties with CA,” he said.
In turn, Presidential Envoy to Naryn Region Altynbek Ergeshov emphasized in his speech that the Naryn-Torugart-Kashgar highway, built in the distant 18th century, today serves as a strategic international highway providing access from the western region of China to the Middle East countries.
“We sincerely believe that the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad within the framework of the One Belt, One Road project will further expand the prospect of our cooperation in this direction,” he said.
Turkmenistan took part in the China Commodity Fair in Kashgar. The stand with Turkmen textile and carpet products attracted the attention of visitors, the MIC reported.
“Kashgar - Central and South Asia” focuses on combining efficiency and innovation, providing participants with many ways of cooperation, including business negotiations, signing cooperation contracts, technical exchanges, etc., for the parties to achieve significant cooperation results.
The fair showcases a wide range of products including new technologies, branded goods, textiles and garments, handicrafts, agricultural products and more.
This year, the total amount of contracts signed at the Kashgar Fair has reached a new high, the source said.
