Uzbekistan to participate in the first BRICS literary forum in Kazan

The primary goal of the event will be international cultural exchange and appeal to the cultural heritage and spiritual heritage of friendly countries.


TASHKENT, August 27 - Sputnik. Experts, writers, poets and literary scholars from Uzbekistan together with colleagues from Russia, China, Brazil, India, Arab Emirates and Iran will take part in the first literary forum of BRICS countries.


The theme of the forum, which will be held in Kazan on September 11-13 ahead of the international summit of the interstate association, is “World Literature in the New Reality. Dialogue of traditions, national values and cultures”.


“The title speaks for itself. Its primary task will be international cultural exchange and appeal to the cultural heritage and spiritual patrimony of friendly countries,” said Azat Abzalov, head of the Kazan Culture Department.


On the first day of the forum, a plenary session with the participants will be held in Kazan City Hall. They will talk about the modern development of the book industry, literary trends and connection with the traditions of the peoples of the world.

On September 12, the importance of literary translations will be discussed at a round table on the platform of the Union of Writers of Tatarstan. On the same day, writers and poetesses of the forum will hold a meeting “Eastern View of Women's Poetry”.


The National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan will organize a book exhibition of the countries participating in the forum. Visitors can expect creative meetings with writers from China and India, as well as a jam session (joint improvisation) with the participation of Russian composer Anna Koroleva and poets from the participating countries.


Some of the events will be dedicated to the memory of Russian writer Vasily Aksyonov.


On September 13, the traditional award ceremony for young talents “Star Ticket” and the closing of the literary forum will be held in Kazan City Hall.
