Uzbekistan's new ambassador to South Korea appointed

Alisher Abdusalomov has been appointed Uzbekistan's ambassador to South Korea. He arrived in Seoul on August 29, Dunyeo reported.

“The new ambassador intends to continue work on strengthening bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and South Korea, focusing on economic, cultural and diplomatic aspects of cooperation,” the report said.

Previously, he worked as an adviser on trade and economic issues at the Uzbek Embassy in Japan from 2013 to 2016 and held a similar position in South Korea from 2018 to 2024. Before his appointment in Seoul, Abdusalomov also headed the secretariat of the chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.

Alisher Abdusalomov was appointed to replace Vitaly Fen, who headed the Uzbek embassy in South Korea from 1995 to 2024. Fen passed away in June this year.
