Uzbekistan and Afghanistan have signed 35 memorandums of understanding and agreements totaling $2.5 billion, the office of Afghanistan's Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs said in a statement.
Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov visited Afghanistan on August 17 accompanied by a government delegation to participate in a business forum and the opening of the Made in Uzbekistan exhibition in Kabul.
The signing ceremony of agreements was held August 17 under the leadership of Acting Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund and Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdullah Aripov.
The agreements include 12 investment agreements worth $1.4 billion and 23 trade agreements worth $1.1 billion, which will strengthen the Taliban's economic relations with Uzbekistan and significantly increase the level of trade.
The implementation of these agreements is expected to significantly strengthen economic and trade ties between the two countries.
