Paata Imnadze, deputy director of the National Center for Disease Control, told Formula TV that some U.S. projects of the Center and Lugar Laboratory have probably been suspended, although he notes that U.S. aid has not stopped.
"It hasn't stopped, there are some projects that are being talked about," Paata Imnadze says, and when asked which projects they are talking about, he says he "can't say anything yet."
According to Formula, financial assistance from the United States to the National Center for Disease Control and Lugar Laboratory has been suspended.
According to the source, part of the $95 million that the government will no longer receive because of its anti-democratic policies and anti-Western rhetoric was also supposed to go to the agency.
Washington is one of the Center's main supporters, as confirmed by former head of the National Center for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze.
The center received $10 million in aid from the U.S. each year, which was used for scientific projects and staff training.
