As part of the program of the working visit, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with the Chairman of the People's Republic of China.
During the meeting, the leaders of the two countries stated that in recent years a powerful breakthrough has been made in all areas of bilateral cooperation.
The second session of the Strategic Dialogue of Foreign Ministers is scheduled to be held in Tashkent before the end of the year. A visit of the Chinese parliamentary delegation to Uzbekistan is also expected in the near future.
It was noted that the current portfolio of investment projects exceeds $50 billion. Since the beginning of the year, more than $3 billion of Chinese investments have been utilized in Uzbekistan, more than 500 new joint ventures have been established.
An agreement was reached to accelerate the adoption of strategic cooperation programs in infrastructure, industrial cooperation, agriculture and green energy.
The recent launch of the Uzbek-Chinese technopark and the region's first BYD electric car production facility in Jizzak province was noted with satisfaction.
Partnership with leading Chinese financial structures is expanding. Thus, an investment platform has been created with the Silk Road Fund, and the construction of the Olympic City in the capital is being finalized with the assistance of China Eximbank. The opening of a regional branch of this bank in Tashkent is expected.
The intensification of interregional exchanges has been highly appreciated. Since the beginning of the year, heads of all regions of the country have repeatedly visited China, and Chinese delegations have visited Uzbekistan. Trade houses have been opened in Beijing, Urumqi and a number of other cities.
Plans have been outlined to hold the second Forum of Regions next year.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the Chinese President's support in practical interaction in poverty alleviation. It was proposed to adopt a long-term program to exchange experience in this important area.
The importance of the early start of practical work on the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad, which is of strategic importance for strengthening transport interconnectivity and development of the region within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, was emphasized.
The sides also exchanged views on topical issues on the regional and international agenda. The Uzbek side's unwavering position in supporting the "One China" policy and fighting the "three forces of evil" was reaffirmed.
The leaders emphasized that close interaction within the UN, SCO, Central Asia-China format and other international and regional structures will continue.
The head of state wished the Chinese leader success during his presidency of the SCO.
The need to increase partnership in tourism, science, education, personnel training and Chinese language studies was pointed out.
The Forum of Confucius Institutes in Central Asia will be held in Tashkent. Plans have been outlined to open branches of Chinese universities in the country, to widely implement the Chinese system of professional education - "Lu Ban Workshop". It was proposed to hold the second Educational Forum next year.
At the end of the talks, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited the PRC chairman to visit Uzbekistan.
