Russia at the end of nine months of the current year retained the second place among trade partners of Georgia with trade volumes of 1.8 billion dollars, RIA Novosti calculated after studying the data of the Georgian statistical service.
At the same time, according to the materials, the total trade volumes of Moscow and Tbilisi at the end of January-September 2024 decreased by 2.2% compared to the same period last year and amounted to $1.84 billion.
The first place in the partnership with Georgia is still occupied by Turkey - their trade for nine months increased by 6.5% and reached 2.33 billion dollars. The other countries from the top 5 also retained their previous positions: the United States - 1.47 billion dollars, China - 1.43 billion dollars and Azerbaijan with 957 million dollars.
These five countries accounted for 48% of Georgia's total trade turnover, while last year this share was 50%. The top ten Georgian partners also included Germany (936 million dollars), Kyrgyzstan (912 million), Kazakhstan (685 million), Armenia and Japan (394 million).
At the same time, Kyrgyzstan became the leader in Georgian exports with the volume of shipments of 908 million dollars. The top five were Kazakhstan with 635 million, Azerbaijan with 544 million, Russia with 523 million and Armenia with 462 million. Georgia itself bought the most goods from Turkey (1.99 billion dollars), the United States (1.38 billion), Russia (1.31 billion), China (1.2 billion) and Germany (902 million).
Georgia's total exports for the three quarters of this year reached 4.8 billion dollars, while imports reached almost 12 billion dollars. In total, Tbilisi traded 16.8 billion dollars - 3.7% more than a year earlier. The highest growth rates among Georgia's major partners were in trade with Hong Kong - 2.4 times, up to 201 million dollars, Kyrgyzstan - 1.8 times (up to 912 million), Uzbekistan - 1.4 times (up to 169 million), Germany and Kazakhstan - 1.3 times (up to 936 million and 685 million respectively) and Belarus - 25% (up to 137 million).
The largest decreases were in trade with Indonesia - 3.3 times, to 12 million dollars, Peru - 1.7 times (to 31 million), Thailand - 1.6 times (to 15 million), Serbia - 1.5 times (to 12 million), Sweden - 1.5 times (to 28 million) and Armenia - 1.4 times (to 622 million).
