According to the Press Office of the Presidential Office, Kazakhstan President Hastyom-Zhomart Tokayev met with Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) President Renate Bekoturvov on the 2nd.
During the meeting, Bekoturvov reported to the President on the results of AIFC’s work last year and the first quarter of this year, as well as future development plans.
Since its operation, the Astana International Financial Center has attracted more than US$11 billion in investment funds for the country (including US$3.5 billion in 2023 and the first three months of this year). This figure exceeded the previously forecast 2025 target.
According to him, the number of companies registered with AIFC will reach more than 670 in 2023, setting a record. Currently, more than 2,600 companies from 78 countries around the world are registered with AIFC.
Last year and the first quarter of this year, IFC participating companies paid 48.7 billion tenge in taxes to the state budget. In 2023, the IFC Arbitration Center heard 767 commercial dispute cases.
President Tokayev talked about the important role of international financial centers in attracting green investment and the development of the middle corridor for the region.
It is worth mentioning that more than 60% of Kazakhstan’s “green” bonds and credits are issued with the support of the AIFC Green Finance Center.
Tokayev said that under the current situation, it is necessary to unite the efforts of all state agencies and financial institutions to help the Kazakh economy attract investment and actively use the AIFC's infrastructure for transactions.
