Participants of the opposition rally in Tbilisi have practically dispersed

Participants of the next large-scale opposition rally near the Georgian parliament have practically dispersed, the police did not take any measures, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.

On Thursday evening, the opposition gathered on Rustaveli Avenue near the Georgian parliament for another, eighth protest rally. They blocked the avenue for several hours, the most active ones kicked the metal fence near the parliament and fired fireworks at police officers guarding the parliament. Despite the fact that in previous days this had led to police retaliation and even dispersal of the rally, this time the police did not react to the provocations.

After a few hours, the protesters began to disperse. By 3.00 local time (2.00 Moscow time) only two dozen protesters remained near the Parliament, but the police are in no hurry to drive them out of the roadway - there are few cars in Tbilisi at night, and there is no urgent need to block traffic on one of the main avenues of the city. The police are concentrated near the Parliament and on the squares on Rustaveli Avenue, and do not interfere in what is happening.

Another series of opposition protests began in Georgia on November 28, after Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced a decision to suspend consideration of the start of negotiations on the country's membership in the European Union until 2028. The protesters are using firecrackers, stones, bottles, and Molotov cocktail bottles found at the scene of pogroms. Security forces are responding with special equipment, including water cannons.
