The opposition has confirmed the gathering of a large rally on Monday evening on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi.
The gathering will take place at 19:00, in front of the parliament building.
The rally will take place on the ninth day after the elections, the official results of which are not recognized by the four opposition associations, which passed to the parliament in a minority. They demand an international investigation, speaking of massive falsification of the voting results, and repeated elections under international control.
Coalition for Change, Unity - National Movement and Strong Georgia participated in the preparation of the rally. Representatives of the For Georgia Party were not present at the consultations - leader Giorgi Gakharia said that the association is focused on collecting evidence of election fraud and will join the protest after its voters.
The organizers do not decipher the scenario of the upcoming rally, promising to announce further plans after its start. Earlier, the “Coalition for Change” announced the collection of tents, with up to a thousand of them already in stock. But it is still unclear whether the tent city will appear in the center of Tbilisi tomorrow.
Opposition media, citing sources in the parties, say that today the action will be declared indefinite.
The joint headquarters will work at the central office of the Lelo party in Tbilisi.
“We will meet on Monday, at 19:00, on Rustaveli, and we will give detailed information on how our protest will continue within the law, peacefully, in an organized manner,” Anna Dolidze, leader of the For the People party, said at a briefing.
“The street will be one of the central areas of our plan, where we will fight for our country and European future,” said Elene Hoshtaria, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change.
This will be the opposition's second post-election protest rally. The first was held on October 28, after the Central Election Commission announced the preliminary results.
