The head of the republic congratulated Uzbeks on the Day of Friendship of Peoples, which is celebrated on July 30.
TASHKENT, July 30 - Sputnik. The tolerance established in our society is widely recognized in the international arena, Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed in his congratulatory message to the Uzbeks on Peoples' Friendship Day.
He reminded that one of the most priority tasks of reforms in the process of building a New Uzbekistan is to further strengthen the atmosphere of interethnic harmony and tolerance in society.
“Today, representatives of more than 130 nations and nationalities, 16 confessions live in peace and friendship in the country. There are 157 national cultural centers and 38 friendship societies,” the congratulatory message reads.
The President noted that educational institutions teach in Uzbek, Karakalpak, Russian, Tajik, Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Turkmen languages, and schoolchildren are provided with textbooks and fiction at the expense of the state.
In addition, the activities of the Friendship Houses established in Karakalpakstan and the provinces are comprehensively supported: the necessary funds are allocated by the Public Foundation attached to the Oliy Majlis, and subsidies and grants are provided.
The state provides national cultural centers with appropriate equipment, furniture, musical instruments and national costumes.
They are provided with modern buildings and regularly organize national holidays, festivals, concerts and meetings, presentations by well-known cultural figures, seminars and conferences.
“Uzbekistan is our common home“ - this noble idea has become the motto of the activity of all national cultural centers, which is a practical embodiment of the atmosphere of interethnic peace and harmony reigning in our society,” the text of the congratulatory message reads.
In the Year of Support for Youth and Business, additional conditions are being created for young men and women of different nationalities, deeper awareness of their civic duty, increased patriotism, expansion of the dialog of cultures based on tolerance, the head of the republic emphasized.
In this regard, he noted the tremendous changes that have taken place over the past seven years in Uzbekistan's domestic and foreign policy. According to Mirziyoyev, strengthening of friendly relations with neighboring states of the Central Asian region, filling them with new content vividly reflect the dreams and aspirations of our people.
“Uzbekistan has accumulated important experience in managing a multinational and multicultural society, arousing great interest in the world,” the congratulatory message reads.
The President stressed that the republic will continue to pay special attention to enhancing the role of non-governmental organizations, developing civil society institutions by strengthening guarantees of their rights, ensuring freedom of conscience for every citizen regardless of ethnicity, language, religion and social status.
“We will consistently continue the policy aimed at strengthening friendship and harmony between representatives of different nations and confessions living in the country,” the President said.
Recall that July 30 is declared People's Friendship Day in Uzbekistan.
