Armenian Defense Ministry denied reports of shelling of Azerbaijani positions

The ministry recalled the proposal of the Armenian Prime Minister's Office to create a joint mechanism to investigate the incidents.

The Armenian Defense Ministry denied the statements about the shelling of Azerbaijani positions. Earlier, the Azerbaijani side said that the Armenian Armed Forces allegedly subjected the positions of the Azerbaijani army to small arms fire.

“The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry's report that allegedly on August 28 at about 06:45 Armenian Armed Forces units opened fire in the direction of Azerbaijani positions located in the southwestern part of the border zone does not correspond to reality,” the Armenian ministry said.

The Defense Ministry recalled the proposal of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's office to create a joint mechanism to investigate ceasefire violations.

As it has been reported, on June 22, the Armenian Prime Minister's Office proposed through diplomatic channels to the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration to create such a mechanism. The proposal came after the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry accused Armenia of shelling their positions several times. However, Baku has not responded to this proposal.
